How to Get a Utility Box Wrapped?

If you're interested in starting a utility box wrapping project in your community, here are some basic steps to consider:

Obtain Permissions

01

To begin, you will need to contact the authority that owns the utility box. In the Lower Mainland, this is most likely BC Hydro. You can submit a request to wrap one of their boxes at this link. Note, you will need to provide photos of the utility box showing all four side of the box.

Take Measurements and Finalize Artwork

02

While we can offer to do both, you can save cost by doing these yourself. Measurement is relatively easy as we only require the width, height, and the depth of the box. For artwork, you can go with a stock image of foliage, or take a picture of a the surrounding area, or even use an artist work.

Determine Budget

03

Due to the unique process of printing, precutting, cleanup, and installation, the process of a full utility box wrap (all sides) is often between $800 and $2000 dollars. Note, other factors such as the size of the box, number of sides being wrapped, and its condition also plays a factor in pricing.

Partner with a Printing Company

04

The final step is to seek out a local printing company that specializes in wrapping utility boxes (I.e. Century Signs). We use BC Hydro compliant material and certified installers to ensure your box wrap meets the required standards.
